Chicago native Sally Nemeth is an award winning playwright, screenwriter and author of young adult fiction. Her plays include Holy Days, Water Play and Sally’s Shorts. Mill Fire opened in New York in 1989 after its world premiere at Chicago’s at Goodman Theatre the same year. Nemeth began her career in television – she has produced a documentary and worked for every major network, after getting her start on NBC’s Law and Order. Knopf/Yearling has published her novel, “The Heights, the Depths, and Everything In Between.”
Sandy Shinner recently directed August Strindberg’s Creditors for Remy Bumppo Theatre as well as God’s Ear by Jenny Schwartz at the University of Virginia. The former Associate Artistic Director of Victory Gardens, Ms. Shinner created the IGNITION! Festival, was co-director of the nationally known Access Project and directed premieres of new work by Joel Drake Johnson, Claudia Allen, Jeffrey Sweet, Dean Corrin, John Logan, Steve Carter, Sarah Ruhl, Theresa Rebeck, Aditi Brennan Kapil and Kathleen Tolan, among others. She received the 2013 Kathryn V. Lamkey Spirit Award from Actors’ Equity Association for her commitment to non-traditional casting and equal opportunity. She has directed at Steppenwolf’s First Look Festival, Actors Theater of Louisville’s Humana Festival, the Phoenix Theater, Sacramento Theatre Company, and New York’s 78th Street Theater Lab, among others. She is an adjunct professor at DePaul University.
