Shattered Globe Theatre was born in a storefront space on Halsted Street in 1991. Since then, SGT has produced more than 60 plays, including nine American and world premieres, and garnered an impressive 42 Jeff Awards and 106 Jeff Award nominations, as well as the acclaim of critics and audiences alike. Shattered Globe is an ensemble driven theater whose mission is to create an intimate, visceral theater experience that challenges the perspective of audience and artist alike through passionate storytelling. Shattered Globe is inspired by the diversity of our city and committed to making the theater available to all audiences.   Through initiatives such as the Protégé Program, Shattered Globe creates a space which allows emerging artists to grow and share in the ensemble experience.

Business Manager – NOW HIRING

The search for a new Business Manager (BM) presents the opportunity to strengthen the process of building an organized/professional administrative office for Shattered Globe. The Business Manager will report directly to the Producing Artistic Director (PAD) and the BM should have the capability to establish and maintain an orderly office and, after being trained, take full responsibility for the listed areas. Over time, the number of these responsibilities should grow. The ultimate goal is to eventually fully assign these administrative responsibilities to the BM allowing the PAD to focus on the artistic challenges of SGT. A second objective is to support the BM to allow future development as an administrative leader at SGT.

The areas which should be addressed by the Business Manager are:

  •  Financial
    • Assist the PAD in the development, preparation and management of the SGT budget
    • Work with PAD, Treasurer, and SGT Board to manage business affairs including payroll, and bookkeeping with not- for -profit QuickBooks
    • Assist with the annual audit and 990 schedules along with SGT Treasurer
    • Create financial reports for Board and or grant submissions as needed
    • Manage purchasing and vendor accounts
  • Administrative
    • Manage and facilitate the execution of artists’ contracts, including independent contractors, in coordination with the PAD.
    • Liaison with producing collaborators such as co-productions, AEA, United Scenic Artists, etc. in collaboration with PAD
    • Act as liaison to Ensemble and Protégés
    • oversee compliance with Ensemble obligations
    • serve as Company Manager for Protégé Program and aid in linking this program to the community
    • Take responsibility for preparation, attending and taking minutes for SG meetings with PAD, Board, Ensemble, Staff and various committees (usually evenings)
    • Maintain SG files, donor records and calendar, issue tax receipts and prepare “thank you” letters
    • Develop consistent office hours and availability of Shattered Globe to the outside world and each other
  • Development
    • Manage, maintain and enhance the use of the Patron Manager Database
    • Support SG fund raising events such as the Soiree and other events throughout the year
    • Collaborate with PAD in creating funding opportunities such as sponsorships and corporate giving
  • Other
    • Assist with special projects
    • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications
Education:
-Bachelor’s degree in arts administration, theatre, business/marketing or related area

REQUIRED:
-Two years administrative experience in performing arts or related non profit
organizations
– Good writing and communications skills
– Computer skills including word processing, spreadsheets, and Quickbooks
– Ability to take the lead for projects/activities as needed
– Seeking a permanent position
-Ability to work collaboratively
-Interest in some flexibility in hours especially during productions

PREFERRED:
-Familiarity with Salesforce/Patron Manager CRM systems
-Two years’ experience in bookkeeping, development, general marketing in theater

Salary: Depending on experience and interest, this position may be 30 hours a week or full time. Salary is commensurate with experience: the salary range is 32K to 40K. Benefits to be discussed.
