Season 36: Look Closer

First, thank you.
Whether this is your first season traveling with us or you've been in the audience for years, you're an essential part of what makes Shattered Globe Theatre possible. Before we officially welcome audiences into our 36th Season, we wanted to take a moment to share a little more about the journey ahead—and why we're so excited to experience it with you.
This season's theme is Look Closer.
It's an invitation to slow down. To question first impressions. To recognize that the stories we tell ourselves—and the ones we're told—are rarely as simple as they first appear.
Each play this season explores a different kind of distortion. Political. Personal. Emotional. Together, they ask what it takes to break through fear, expectation, and memory to find something honest on the other side.
Vladimir
October 2 – November 14, 2026
Our season opens with the Midwest premiere of Erika Sheffer's Vladimir, directed by Ensemble Member Lou Contey. Set against the rise of an authoritarian government, the play follows an independent journalist forced to decide what she's willing to risk in pursuit of the truth. It's a gripping political drama that asks what happens when silence becomes complicity.
The Waterfall
January 22 – February 27, 2027
Next winter, we present the Midwest premiere of Phanésia Pharel's The Waterfall, directed by Jasmine Gunter. After returning home to care for her mother, Bean finds herself confronting the expectations, traditions, and sacrifices that have quietly shaped her life. It's an intimate family drama about identity, love, and the ties that continue to ripple through us.
Brace Brace
April 16 – May 29, 2027
We close the season with Brace Brace by Oli Forsyth, directed by Elizabeth Margolius. After a shocking event leaves Ray and Sylvia forever changed, they struggle to reconcile competing memories of the same experience. As their relationship begins to fracture, the play explores how trauma reshapes perception and leaves us questioning not only what happened—but who we've become because of it.
As Producing Artistic Director Ian Frank shared when announcing the season:
"Our upcoming season tells stories about parents, partners and politics. But at its core is a fight to break free and find something honest, authentic and redemptive... We promise you'll leave the theatre talking. That's exactly what live theater is supposed to do."
