Christina Gorman (Jess, she/her) was born and raised in the Hudson Valley region of upstate New York. Julia Alvarez AS Jess

Julia Alvarez (U/S Jess, she/her) is excited to be working with Shattered Globe for the first time! Previous Chicago credits include; Flying Lovers of Vitebsk at Northlight Theatre, Cygnus at Gift Theatre, and The Whistleblower at Theatre Wit. While in Minnesota, she worked with Uprising Theatre, Huge Improv, Walking Shadow, Old Log Theatre, and Lyric Arts. She is also a graduate of Emerson College’s theatre program in Boston, and worked with theatre companies there that included; Apollinaire Theatre, Sleeping Weazel, Flat Earth, and Hub Theatre. She has also worked as a prop designer on A Red Orchid Theatre productions’ of The Cave and Revolution.

Mandy Walsh AS Kacie

Mandy Walsh (U/S Kacie, she/her) is so grateful to be working on this show as her first with Shattered Globe! Most recently she has appeared in War of the Worlds at Lifeline Theatre, as well as their previous productions of Cat's Cradle, Native Son, as Watson in both productions of Miss Holmes and Miss Holmes Returns, as well as Monstrous Regiment, Watership Down, and The Count of Monte Cristo (U/S). Other Chicago area credits include work with Paramount Theatre, A Red Orchid Theatre, 16th Street Theatre, Windy City Playhouse, WildClaw Theatre, The Factory Theater, and more. Regionally she has performed at Dunes Summer Theatre in Michigan City, IN, and Lakeside Shakespeare in Frankfort, MI. Harsh Gagoomal (U/S Stevie, he/him) is a joyful artist and desi superhero. Daniel Vaughn Manasia (Understudy Kelvin, he/him) Daniel is very exited to be working with Shattered Globe Theatre. Jann Iaco AS voice/mom

Jann Iaco (Understudy Voice/Mom, she/her) has performed at many Chicago theatres, including Raven, Lifeline, Griffin, First Folio, The Trance, Dunes Summer Theatre, and Fourth Wall, where she was nominated for a Jeff Citation. She taught acting at the Victory Gardens Training Center and stage-managed at the Guthrie Theatre. Jann has an MFA in directing from the University of Minnesota and is a CPTD, Certified Professional of Talent Development.

The Team

Lindsey Ferrentino (Playwright, she/her) is a playwright whose work includes The Fear of 13 (Donmar Warehouse; Olivier Award nominations for Best New Play and Best Actor, starring Adrien Brody), The Queen of Versailles (Broadway; The Emerson Colonial Theatre), Ugly Lies the Bone (Roundabout Theatre Company; The National Theatre, UK; NYT Critic’s Pick), Amy and the Orphans (Roundabout Theatre Company), This Flat Earth (Playwrights Horizons), The Year to Come (La Jolla Playhouse), The Artist (Theatre Royal Plymouth). According to The New York Times, Lindsey writes with, “a muscular empathy, which seeks to enter the minds of people for whom life is often a struggle of heroic proportions.” Whether writing about a female burn survivor or the first leading role for a person with Down syndrome, she has been called, “a brave playwright of dauntless conviction, whose unflinching portraits are hard to come by outside of journalism,” and she possesses, “a moral compass second to none among her generation of playwrights” (Variety). Lindsey is also an accomplished screenwriter with various projects in development. Most recently announced, she is writing and directing a film adaptation of her celebrated play Amy and the Orphans (Aggregate Pictures), writing a project based on Hugh Hefner’s Playboy empire (Sony), and adapting Rebecca Yarros’ beloved novel In the Likely Event (Netflix). Lindsey is the recipient of the 2016 Kesselring Prize, a Laurents/Hatcher Citation of Excellence, the ASCAP Cole Porter Playwriting Prize, the Catalyst Award for Entertainment Industry Excellence, the Paul Newman Drama Award, the NYU Distinguished Young Alumna Award. Jonathan Berry (Director, he/him) is excited to be back in Chicago, after three years of serving as Artistic Director of The Penobscot Theatre Company in Bangor, Maine. He is a proud ensemble member of both Steep Theatre and Griffin Theatre and a former Artistic Producer at Steppenwolf Theatre Company. He directed the Steppenwolf productions of: Lindiwe, The Children, You Got Older, Constellations, and the SYA productions of The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Nighttime, The Crucible, and A Separate Peace. Steep Theatre Company: Paris, Red Rex, Earthquakes in London, Posh, The Life and Sort of Death of Eric Argyle, If There Is I Haven’t Found it Yet, The Knowledge, Festen, Moment, The Hollow Lands and The Resistible Rise of Arturo Ui. Christopher Kriz~** (Original Music and Sound Design, he/him) is an award-winning composer and sound designer based in Chicago. A winner of 7 Joseph Jefferson Awards, Kriz has designed hundreds of productions for companies in Chicago including Goodman Theatre, Steppenwolf, Chicago Symphony Orchestra, Northlight, Court, Chicago Shakespeare, Paramount, Timeline, Victory Gardens, Writers, Remy Bumppo, Raven, and many others. Erin Pleake (Projections Designer) is a video designer, programmer, and content creator based in Chicago. Erin’s theatre credits include projection design for An Educated Guess (Definition Theatre), ¡Bernarda! (Teatro Vista/Steppenwolf Theatre), Once (Writers Theatre), Chagall in School (Grippo Stage Company), The Writer (Steep Theatre), Elevator Girl (Vanguard Arts Collective), and co-design for The Lady from the Sea (Court Theatre). Hannah Andruss (Makeup Designer, she/her) is excited to make her design debut with Shattered Globe. Based in Chicago, she is a versatile Makeup Artist and Wig Designer working across theatre, film, and commercials. Her recent theatre credits include Wish You Were Here (Remy Bumppo), Hairspray (Uptown Music Theater), Angels in America (Invictus Theatre), A Lie of the Mind (Raven Theatre), and the national tour of How the Grinch Stole Christmas! (Crossroads Live). Recent film credits include Behind the 8-Ball (Dir. Nathan Israileff), Rabbit Rabbit (KISSA/Thank You Baby), The Solution (54 Script), and The Conversation Project (Hulu). Emily Nicholas (Rehearsal Assistant Stage Manager, she/her) is a non-Equity stage manager based in Chicago, IL. Recent credits include: A Tale of Two Cities (Shattered Globe Theatre); The Stranger, Million Dollar Quartet, I Ought To Be In Pictures (Peninsula Players Theatre); Macbeth (Pipe Dreams Studio Theatre). She holds a BFA in Stage Management and Arts Administration from Millikin University in Decatur, IL. She would like to thank her friends and family for their love and support!

Mary Dixon (Assistant Stage Manager, she/her) is so excited to be joining Shattered Globe once again with this amazing group of artists! Erik Tylkowski (Technical Director, they/them) has worked for fifteen years in Chicago theaters as a lighting designer, production manager, and technical director, working with theater companies like Hell in a Handbag, Rough House Theater Co, and Theo Ubique Cabaret Theatre. Erik is excited to be back with Shattered Globe after being Production Manager on A Tale of Two Cities last season.

Ellie Fey (Lead Electrician, she/her) is a 24 year old Chicago based Lighting Designer and Electrician. She graduated from The Theatre School at DePaul University in 2023 with a BFA in lighting design. Some of her design credits include Lobby Hero (Shattered Globe Theater), Tell Me on a Sunday and TL;DR (Theo Ubique Cabaret Theater), Turn of the Screw (The Music School at DePaul University), By the Way, Meet Vera Stark and Witch (The Artistic Home), Side by Side by Sondheim and The Lifespan of a Fact (Oil Lamp Theater), Fizz and Ginger (Chicago Fringe Opera), MedeaMedeaMedea (Theatre Evolve), The Cottage (Citadel Theatre). Ellie has received two Jeff Award nominations for outstanding lighting design for her work on Lobby Hero and Witch. Devin Meseke (Scenic Charge, he/him) is a Chicago based Scenic Painter. He recently graduated from DePaul University with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Scenic Design. For the past 4 years he has worked as a painter with several local theaters including Lifeline Theatre, Opera Festival of Chicago, Rivendell Theatre, Remy Bumppo Theatre Company, and Albany Park Theater Project and most recently this summer he was the Scenic Charge for Peninsula Players Theatre's season.

Sandy Shinner+ (Producing Artistic Director, she/her) joined Shattered Globe Theatre in October 2013 as the theatre’s first Producing Artistic Director. Her SGT directing credits include Deborah Zoe Laufer’s Be Here Now, Will Snider’s How to Use a Knife, Scott McPherson’s Marvin’s Room, and Sally Nemeth’s Mill Fire. The former Associate Artistic Director of Victory Gardens Theater, she created the nationally known IGNITION! Festival, served as co-director of the Access Project, and, with former Artistic Director Dennis Zacek and former Managing Director Marcelle McVay, accepted the 2001 Regional Theater Tony Award on behalf of Victory Gardens. She has directed over 85 plays at theaters including Victory Gardens, Remy Bumppo, American Blues, the University of Virginia, Actors Theater of Louisville’s Humana Festival, Steppenwolf’s First Look Repertory of New Work, New York’s 78th Street Theater Lab, and the Sacramento Theater Company, among others. Her production of Trying by Joanna McClelland Glass transferred to New York, and her direction was nominated for the Joe A. Callaway Award. Shinner received the 2013 Kathryn V. Lamkey Spirit Award from the Equal Employment Opportunity Committee of Actors’ Equity Association for her commitment to diversity and non-traditional casting. She has been recognized as one of “50 Top Players” by Newcity and a “Chicagoan of the Year” by the Chicago Tribune. She is an adjunct professor at DePaul’s Theatre School, and an Ambassador for the National New Play Network.

AmBer D. Montgomery+ (Associate Artistic Director, she/her) is an emerging director, educator and multi-disciplinary artist from Detroit, Michigan. She has created a career centered around amplifying the voices of Chicago youth and creating work that stands on the legacy of black theater makers before her. Originally trained as an actor, her transition to directing in Chicago has including her associate and assistant directing credits for many major productions including School Girls or the African Mean Girls Play (Goodman Theatre), Sheepdog (Shattered Globe Theatre), LINDIWE (Steppenwolf Theatre), Too Heavy for Your Pocket (TimeLine Theatre), Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom (Writers Theatre), Measure for Measure (American Players Theater) and First Love is the Revolution (Steep Theatre). Her other director’s credits include: *upcoming: Snow Queen (The House Theater), Countess Dracula (Otherworld Theater) and hippolytos (Story Theater New Play Festival). She was awarded 2020 FAIR Assistantship at Oregon Shakespeare Festival, 2018 Fellowship at Steppenwolf Theater in their Department of Education/SYA and an internship at Penumbra Theater’s Summer Institute: Pedagogies for Social Change. She has attended training programs at the Globe Theater in London and LISPA (Now Arthaus Berlin). Amber holds a BFA in Acting from the University of Minnesota Guthrie Theater BFA Actor Training Program.

Lesley Swanson (General Manager, she/her) brings over 12 years of experience in Arts Management and Arts Education. Swanson has planned and executed productions in the non-profit sector for television, theater, and orchestra. She has also directed schools of dance, drama, and music. Swanson earned a MM in flute performance from the Chicago College of Performing Arts at Roosevelt University and a BM from Grand Valley State University. She owns a private studio in the City of Chicago where she teaches flute students of all ages. Active in Chicago’s new music scene, her dynamic flute playing can be heard with the Chicago Composers Orchestra. Swanson has proven herself to be a powerful advocate for women’s rights. As an arts leader, she is committed to continuing education. She recently completed Enrich Chicago’s training Building a Culture of Anti-Racism.

Julia Farrell Diefenbach (Director of Marketing and Community Engagement, she/her) is the Managing and Marketing Director for Artemisia Theatre, Chicago's feminist theatre. She previously served as the Director of Marketing and Social Media for Haven Chicago and as the Associate Artistic Director of The Halogen Company, an award-winning immersive theatre company in Los Angeles. She has collaborated with numerous Chicago theatres including: Collaboraction, Broken Nose Theatre, Midsommer Flight, Firebrand, Go To Productions, and Citadel Theatre. Certified as an Intimacy Captain by the ICC, she also freelances as a director and dramaturg, bringing her expertise to a variety of theatrical projects. Nate Santana*+^ (Artistic Producer, he/him)  joined the company as an Ensemble Member in 2018. For three years, he taught and directed the Protege Program at SGT as well as produced and oversaw the inaugural Global Playwriting Series (GPS), which received over 150 submissions in its first year. Theatre credits include Marvin’s Room (Shattered Globe); Ironbound (Raven Theatre); The Thanksgiving Play (Steppenwolf); Legend of Georgia McBride, Georgiana and Kitty: Christmas at Pemberley (Northlight); Frankenstein, Sense and Sensibility (Indiana Repertory Theatre); SS! Romeo and Juliet, SS! Twelfth Night (Chicago Shakespeare Theater); Balm in Gilead, Golden Boy (Griffin Theatre); The Abuelas, White Tie Ball, Momma’s Boyz (Teatro Vista); The Rainmaker (BoHo Theatre); References to Salvador Dali Make Me Hot (Phoenix Theatre Indianapolis) and What Happened When, Slipping (the side project). Television credits include Chicago Med, Chicago PD, Suits and The Exorcist. Santana is also an Ensemble Member with Teatro Vista. He studied at the School at Steppenwolf, The Moscow Art Theatre, and received his BA from Valparaiso University.
